Falcon Pro for Twitter

I use Twitter quite a bit and am always looking for a great full featured Twitter client. I have always felt that Twitter clients on Android are always one step behind the iOS clients, but that rant is for another day. The other day I ran across a client that I thought was very nice, fast, smooth scrolling and had a great user interface. The Twitter client was Falcon Pro for Android. I found the interface to not only to be easy to use it was really easy to read and I could get to almost anything in one thumb swipe or click. Falcon Pro is not a full featured Twitter client and is missing some advanced features like looking at ReTweets or muting or looking at mentions on another users profile. But for most it would probably be a great fit.

Update: I am being told by the guys over at XDA Developers that the Mute and ReTweet functions are there. I didn't see them. Link to the XDA Falcon thread below.

I have added the screenshot from latest version the Menu Retweets.

NOCS NS200 Aluminum earphones

I have had many bad experiences with headphones/earphones on Android. One of my biggest frustrations has been to get a good quality set that also has the advanced features not only allowing me to use them for phone calls but also give me a inline remote for music control. I am always on the search and found the NOCS NS200 Aluminum specifically for Android phones.

What seemed great to me is that it even came with a free software package in the app store to customize the controls. So I bought a pair and will be posting a review as soon as I spend some time testing them out.

AirDroid Gets External SD Card Management

AirDroid that fantastic app that lets you manage your Android device wirelessly just got better. One of the things that people wanted to manage most was files back and forth to devices. Up until now it would only see internal storage on a device and not the SD card making you have to plug in your device to get external SD card access if you wanted to manage those files. Well now you dont need to plug in at all AirDroid has added external SD management in their latest update.

Google+ update for the iPhone

I just update the iOS Google+ application on the iPhone 4s and I have to say that it is a true update. The application looks very polished lots of large pictures with rich text. The new user interface is more of an experience that iPhone users are accustomed. The does not look Facebookesque where is just looks like a stream with a white background and text. I have added some pictures below of the new interface for you decide wether you like the new interface or not update and stay with the old version.

Another question I have is this seems to make the application (depending on preference) much nicer that the Android version. I makes me wonder what Google has in store for the Android version and why it was not updated first.

Have you heard of ACTA if not you should?

ACTA or Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement is an international agreement targeting intellectual property piracy. Sounds like a good thing right but there is so much more to this. It would require ISP and individual websites to monitor and prosecute copyright infringement. ACTA's is bigger than SOPA or PIPA its written to stop the spread and counterfeit or pirated goods or sites with links to pirated products or material. What that means is any website with copyright or pirated material or links would be outlawed. This is the beginning of government control and censorship of the internet and quite alarming to me.

I have included some info below on ACTA and in the future will be expanding on the current status and dangers.

Jailbreaking or Rooting Can Become Illegal for Smartphones and Tablets

In 2010, the US Copyright Office said jailbreaking smartphones doesn’t violate Section 1201 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Well that was not a permanent ruling and it expires this year. The EFF is looking for help in convincing the Copyright Office to renew the provision to keep jailbreaking or rooting from breaking the DMCA. For further information follow the link to EFF.org or you can follow the link directly to the Copyright Office and show support for extension.

Geek or Nerd

Watching CNBC tonight and saw a preview of a program that will be on tomorrow night. The program is called "Bill Gates: How a Geek Changed the World" I felt like it was slight to Emperor Bill. I have always called myself professional nerd mainly due to getting paid for working in a technical field. To me I always saw a nerd as top tier in a particular field not necessarily needing to be in a technical field and a geek as the greasy haired pimple ridden kid who may one day grow up to be a nerd. So I was curious and looked up the definitions in and this is what was in the dictionary.

nerd
Noun: 1. A foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious: "one of those nerds who never asked a girl to dance". 2. An intelligent, single-minded expert in a particular technical discipline or profession.

geek
Noun: 1. An unfashionable or socially inept person. 2. A person with an eccentric devotion to a particular interest: "a computer geek".

So it poses the question, "am I a nerd or a geek?" Me, I am sticking with nerd. What about you?

Newest Android Market SPAM

If you see a cross show up in your notification bar telling you of a new updated Market and you click it a browser will open up and take you to a page telling you "Discover Amazing Apps with the Newest Android Market" DO NOT click the link and DO NOT put it your phone number there are reports that doing so you will agree to pay 9.99 a month.

This is SPAM and the reason that you are getting this is because you installed an app and this was loaded with it. The notification will continue to show up in your notification bar from time to time and there is no app that you can uninstall to remove it. Luckily there is a utility called AirPush Detector from the Android Market  that will not only identify what app is causing the SPAM but will let you uninstall it.
